The kill switch automatically blocks your internet connection if the VPN drops, preventing data leaks.
What is a Kill Switch?
When VPN disconnects unexpectedly, your traffic would normally revert to your unprotected connection, exposing your real IP address. The kill switch prevents this by:
- Detecting VPN disconnection instantly
- Blocking all internet traffic immediately
- Preventing IP address leaks
- Automatically reconnecting VPN
- Restoring access once VPN is secure
How to Enable Kill Switch
- Open Activate Security
- Go to Settings → VPN
- Enable "Kill Switch"
- Optionally enable "Auto-Reconnect"
When to Use Kill Switch
Always Recommended For:
- Torrenting or P2P file sharing
- Accessing sensitive accounts
- Public WiFi networks
- Countries with restricted internet
- Maximum privacy scenarios
Can Disable For:
- Casual browsing at home
- When connection stability is more important
- Troubleshooting connection issues
Important: With kill switch enabled, if VPN disconnects, you'll have no internet until VPN reconnects. This is by design for maximum security.
Kill Switch vs Auto-Reconnect
- Kill Switch: Blocks internet when VPN drops
- Auto-Reconnect: Automatically reconnects VPN
- Best Practice: Enable both for seamless protection
